Habitat for Humanity partners with people in our community, and all over the world, to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With your support, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and for their families. Through our 2020 Strategic Plan, Habitat for Humanity will serve more people than ever before through decent and affordable housing.
A Habitat affiliate established in 1994, Habitat provides simple, decent, affordable housing for low-income Franklin County residents through a combination of new construction, renovating existing inventory, and home repair. Habitat provides the foundation for stability and self-reliance to partner families.
Habitat families earn the opportunity to purchase a home with family members 18 years or older committing to a minimum of 250 “sweat equity” hours to Habitat. These hours are worked through the constructing of their own home, construction of other partner families’ homes, work in the ReStore, and participation in speaking engagements as a Habitat representative. Homeowner families are granted no-profit, low to no-interest loans held by Habitat with affordable monthly payments.
Habitat homes are built primarily through donations from individual and business partners in Franklin County. Partners donated their time, talent, materials, as well as lend financial support to make home projects possible.
